Comedians Matt Lucas and Richard Ayoade are two of the confirmed names who will be joining the next series of Taskmaster. Channel 4 have confirmed who will be appearing on the new series of Taskmaster later this year. The news comes after they announced that they had accepted a deal to continue to broadcast the hit show.
It sees Greg Davies and Alex Horne continue in their roles as the Taskmaster and his very small sidekick in six new series of the global hit series. Taskmaster’s New Year Treat, and the fan-favourite Taskmaster Champion of Champions (once there are more champions to crown) will also return.
Ready for its impressive 22nd series, comedians Matt Lucas and Richard Ayoade will be joining the cast as the latest to compete on Taskmaster. Channel 4 teased that the comics have “willingly submitted themselves to the toughest physical and mental examination on television”. It added: “Like so many before them, they all believe they can impress the Taskmaster, but only one can take home the glory.” The group will be put through their paces by Greg Davies.
Alex Horne who will “score and mark with the utmost scrutiny to determine who will emerge victorious” and eventually hold the trophy and be named a Taskmaster Champion. The comedians will also be joined by Chloe Petts, Isy Suttie and Nina Conti. This does mean that fans of the Channel 4 show will have to bid farewell to the latest contestants, Amy Gledhill, Armando Iannucci, Joanna Page, Joel Dommett and Kumail Nanjiani.
Reflecting on the final episode of his series ending, Joel took to Instagram as he posed with the cast and wrote: "It’s the last episode of Taskmaster tonight! I’ve included Amy crying afterwards to show how much it meant to us. What will be the fate of the egg?"
Taskmaster first aired on Channel 4 in 2020. Prior to this move, the show's first nine series originally aired on the UKTV channel Dave starting in July 2015. The first star-studded lineup to debut on the new network included Daisy May Cooper, Johnny Vegas, Katherine Parkinson, Mawaan Rizwan, and Richard Herring.
