Love Island stars Luke Mabbott and Lucie Donlan have officially tied the knot, becoming only the fifth couple from the ITV2 dating show to marry in its 11-year history. The pair confirmed their wedding last week, nearly five years after announcing their engagement in December 2021.
Wedding Details and Social Media Announcement
In a joint Instagram post, the couple shared a picture of themselves sharing a kiss after saying their vows. The bride wore a crisp white wedding dress with an intricate leaf pattern on the veil, while the groom looked smart in a white tuxedo. The caption read: "Mr & Mrs Mabbott. 17.06.26."
Following the ceremony, Lucie changed her Instagram name to 'Lucie Rose Mabbott.' The couple received an outpouring of congratulations from fellow Islanders and famous friends, including Tom Clare, Shaughna Phillips, Biggs Chris, Lucie Jones, and Vogue Williams.
Rare Success for Love Island Couples
Luke and Lucie are only the fifth Love Island couple to marry, following in the footsteps of Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey, Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen, Dom Lever and Jess Shears, Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt, and Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan. Very few of the hundreds of couples who have appeared on the show have made it down the aisle.
How They Met
The couple both participated in separate seasons of Love Island. Lucie appeared on the fifth season in 2019, alongside Amber Gill, Tommy Fury, Molly-Mae Hague, and Curtis Pritchard. She briefly found love with co-star Joe Garratt, but it wasn't to last. Luke took part in the winter edition of the show in 2020, finishing in third place with Demi Rose. The pair split shortly after returning to the UK, and Luke was soon linked to Lucie.
Their paths crossed in 2020, and they have been inseparable ever since. They got engaged in December 2021 during a romantic trip to Finland. In an interview with the Mirror last March, they said: "We've had a long engagement which has been lovely as it has given us time to really think about our dream day. We now know exactly what and I think going on this trip really sparked some more inspiration for our wedding plans."
