Love Island's Lorenzo Faces Backlash Over Grafties Flirty Clip
Love Island's Lorenzo Faces Backlash Over Grafties Clip

Love Island favourite Lorenzo has faced criticism just days before the final after his behaviour during The Grafties left partner Julia unhappy.

The Grafties Returns with Drama

This week saw the comeback of The Grafties, an awards ceremony launched in 2023 where contestants receive public-voted accolades. The Islanders view nomination footage before winners are revealed and must collect their awards with a speech.

Last night (July 21), Aidan faced backlash for his footage, but viewers were also disappointed with Lorenzo's clip featuring his date with Elicia. Julia was visibly displeased.

Former Islanders Weigh In

Appearing on The Debrief, former Islanders Jordon and Martha shared their thoughts. Jordon confessed: "I think Julia is more into Lorenzo than he's into her slightly." Martha agreed: "Now that I'm out I feel like I can see that more clearly."

Shakira observed: "I think with Julia and Lorenzo as individuals they're so loved that we sort of forget about their connection as a couple. Do we think they are the most compatible in there? I don't think so. I think tonight what we saw in Lorenzo's clip with him flirting, he massively downplayed that to Julia and I don't think she was happy at all."

Lorenzo's Apology

During the episode, Lorenzo issued an apology, claiming the clip was a "joke" in the moment. He added: "I cringed watching that because I can't believe how overtly stupid I was."

Viewers at home were unimpressed. One person posted on X: "They all sit and laugh but then tell Lorenzo he's downplayed it. My face would be like cement in that situation." Another wrote: "Not Lorenzo laughing in Julia's face instead of apologising."

Despite the backlash, some still support the couple. One fan said: "All I'm saying is Lorenzo better be crowned the winner of Love Island. That boy has a heart of gold."

Love Island airs Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
