Love Island's Charleen Murphy Reveals Terrifying Attack

Love Island Casa Amor bombshell Charleen Murphy has revealed details of a terrifying attack she endured before entering the ITV show. The 27-year-old Irish influencer was assaulted in a Dublin restaurant in February 2023, an incident she says left her “scared of everything and everyone.”

The Attack and Its Aftermath

Charleen was dining with a friend when a man who had been sending her online messages struck her from behind. The blow forced her head into a glass, which shattered, causing a head wound that required stitches. She later told RTÉ: “I just felt this blow to the back of my head, my head basically went so full force forward into my glass that the glass completely shattered. I looked to my left and I could see him standing there. Straight away, I knew who it was... He had been messaging me in the past online.”

Following the attack, Charleen posted a photo from hospital on Instagram, showing her injuries. She described the aftermath as “a really scary time... to not feel safe anywhere.” Her assailant was sentenced to 18 months in prison and was released in 2024 after serving 13 months.

Love Island Journey

Charleen entered the Love Island villa as a Casa Amor bombshell, where she formed a bond with Kavan Murphy (no relation). The 21-year-old from Kent was on a break from partner Jasmine Muller at the time. Kavan decided to recouple and bring Charleen back to the main villa, but in the latest episode on Friday (July 3), he appeared to end things with her to reconcile with Jasmine, leaving Charleen's fate uncertain.

Outside the show, Charleen is a successful content creator with over 400,000 followers on both Instagram and TikTok. She also co-hosts the podcast “Hold My Drink” with friend Ellie Kelly, describing it as “the vibe of the girl's bathroom on a night out or the group chat the next morning.”

Love Island continues on Sunday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
