Love Island's Aidan Steps In as Priya Apologises Live

Love Island's Aidan intervened during Monday's live 2026 final as Priya faced questions about her earlier National Rail comment and apologised to Elicia on air.

Awards Show Clip Sparks Backlash

Earlier in the episode, Islanders watched clips from the series and spin-off Aftersun. One clip showed ex-Islander Elicia discussing Aidan and Priya's relationship, calling Priya a 'game player'. Priya responded: 'It's really sad to see someone so bitter and she can keep that sour taste in her mouth. Jealousy is a disease, get well soon.'

Later, Priya took a swipe at Elicia's job: 'I don't care what Julia says I don't care what Elicia says I don't care it's cringey, go back to the National Rail Elicia! You work on the National Rail why are you f***king sitting on Aftersun?' Viewers were unimpressed.

Live Apology and Aidan's Intervention

On the live final, host Maya Jama addressed the comment: 'You obviously apologised to some stuff and you spoke about things that you maybe could have handled differently. Elicia is here right now. Is there anything you want to say to her? Because I know you haven't seen her yet.'

Priya replied: 'Yeah, of course. No, I think, actually, I do want to apologise about the National Rail comment. It was obviously not meant to be a job-shaming comment.' She explained: 'And at the end of the day, it was very much so that I told you, I was telling you to go back to your job because, go back to your day job, basically, and kind of keep my name out of your mouth. That was where I was coming from. It's nothing to do with the actual where you work.'

Priya continued: 'You could have worked anywhere. I was mainly just referencing go back to your job and keep my name out of your mouth. That was kind of what I was saying.' As she repeated 'keep my name out of your mouth', Aidan interjected: 'Okay, Priya, okay darling, okay darling!'

Elicia's Response

Elicia, who was in the live audience, said: 'I feel like a few years back, I'd have probably reacted the same way, you know, sort of shouting and going about that. So, I sort of understand the reaction. I'm proud of my job and I worked my a**e off. There's no hard feelings, we've swept everything under the rug. She's an amazing person!'

Priya replied: 'And so are you! That's what I'm saying, I wasn't shaming on you, I think you should be proud of where you work and everything like that.'

Love Island: The Live Final aired on Monday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
