Love Island finalist Yasmin Pettet has revealed the heartbreaking news that her cat, Miaow Miaow, died from cancer while she was filming the show. The 24-year-old, who finished third alongside boyfriend Jamie Rhodes, shared the news on Instagram days after leaving the villa.
Yasmin said she had a "bad gut feeling" something was wrong during filming. Her mother and sister visited her in the villa but did not tell her the truth until after the final. "Rightfully they didn't tell me because I was still in the villa but after the final I called my sister and she told me that miaow miaow had cancer and died whilst I was away filming Love Island," she wrote.
The cat, whom Yasmin described as "like my child," had been by her side for 11 years and was mentioned frequently on the show. During one episode, Jamie brought back a gift to remind her of Miaow Miaow, moving Yasmin to tears as she expressed her excitement for them to meet.
Yasmin said she is taking time to process the heartbreak. "I'm trying to be as active as I can on socials, but am taking time for myself to process this heartbreak. RIP to my beautiful baby girl, you were so loved and will always be in my soul," she added.
The reality star also expressed gratitude for Jamie and fellow contestants Toni and Shakira, saying she feels "grateful and blessed" for her Love Island journey. Yasmin and Jamie secured third place in the 2025 final, behind winners Cach Mercer and Toni Laites.
