Love Island fans have voiced concerns that contestant Ellie Chadwick may not be suited for the dating experiment, pointing out a worrying habit in her villa behaviour. The 24-year-old property videographer entered the show on day one but has struggled to secure a steady partner over the past six weeks.
Ellie's Rocky Journey in the Villa
Ellie originally paired up with Aidan Murphy before switching to other Islanders, including Aidan's brother Kavan and bombshell Tommy Murphy. She recently ignited a romance with newcomer Finley Maddock, but they encountered their first major obstacle after surviving Casa Amor. A new bombshell named Elicia Bailey arrived and announced her attraction to Finley, who pursued the connection despite earlier assertions of commitment to Ellie.
In the July 12 episode, Elicia snatched Finley from his pairing with Ellie, leaving her so distraught that she considered quitting the programme. While fans sympathise with the original Islander, some have highlighted her “unrealistic expectations” of the men she partners with, according to OK!.

Writing on Reddit, one fan outlined: “Her expectations of the men she's with throughout her LI experience have been unrealistic. Ellie does not want to explore multiple guys at the same time. Seems like it's not in her nature/personality. Other people can.” All of Ellie's splits so far have resulted from her partners pursuing connections with other women in the villa, while fellow Islanders remained open to exploring romantic possibilities.
The post continued: “Ellie just wants a guy to choose her and stick with her the way Fitzy did with Lola. It is POSSIBLE but it's not very realistic on this show. The show's entire setup, with OGs, bombshells, Casa, the boys sneaking out to meet girls, etc. is designed for the contestants to explore multiple connections and create drama in the villa.”
Mixed Reactions from Viewers
Like most pairs on the programme, Ellie and Finley hadn't made their relationship exclusive before he was taken, but they had been intimate, which most viewers believe is the genuine reason Ellie feels betrayed. The Reddit user added: “Finley sucks and I am not a fan of his whatsoever and I do not condone his behaviour. He doesn't deserve Ellie at all. I'm specifically only talking about Ellie's expectations vs reality in this post and that I think our girl's expectations are not realistic.”
Another person concurred: “Not many will pull a Fitz and [get to] know one woman at a time on Love Island of all places. I feel for the girl, I don't think this environment was right for her. Love is Blind I could see her on!” A third supporter confessed: “I don't think she knows that she is on 'Love island.'”
Yet others have leapt to defend the Scottish stunner. “I normally criticise the girls more than most on here in response to some wild takes defending them but Ellie hasn't done anything wrong here. Finley has been a total snake to her and handled her feelings appallingly.”
