Love Island viewers have called out Sean Fitzgerald's 'messy' reaction to the explosive clash between Ope and newcomer Simba. The first challenge of the summer series triggered the most heated row to date, with a massive divide emerging between the boys and girls during last night's episode (June 11).
The 'It's Not That Deep' Game Sparks Hypocrisy Claims
During the challenge, Islanders had to pair statements with the correct person, but the boys slammed the girls for 'hypocrisy' over their responses. The girls' laid-back reaction to Simba having a 'wandering eye' contrasted sharply with their earlier criticism of Ope for confessing the same thing.
Viewers Spot Sean's Inappropriate Laughter
Amid the pandemonium, viewers noticed a 'messy' background moment during an earlier confrontation between Ope and Simba. The pair locked horns after Simba whisked Angelista away to the terrace for a kiss. Ope was livid, arguing Angelista hadn't been honest with him. As he aired his grievances, Simba leaped to her defence, declaring Ope had 'two girls and now you've got none' and accusing him of 'bugging out'.
The fiery altercation unfolded in full view of the villa, with several boys perched on bean bags between them. Fan favourite Sean, known as Fitzy, was among the group, and viewers caught him erupting into laughter at an inappropriate moment. After Simba confessed a stronger connection with Angelista, Ope interjected: 'Of course it's not bro, I'm f*****g 10/10,' causing Sean to explode with laughter.
Fan Reactions
One viewer commented: 'Fitzy laughing at Ope calling himself 10/10, he is MESSYYYYY.' Another chimed in: 'Fitzy laughing in Opes face when he said he's a 10/10.'
Ope and Simba Patch Things Up
Luckily, Ope and Simba managed to reconcile before the challenge began, even sharing a hug. Simba stated: 'She's the girl that I'm interested in. I don't really want to hear those negative things coming out of people's mouths addressing her when I kind of understand where her mind is.' Ope responded: 'I completely get it. It kind of just felt like she was laughing in my face about it,' as Simba offered sympathies, adding: 'I'm not here to invalidate how you feel.'
Love Island airs Sundays to Fridays at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
