Love Island fans have been left furious after bombshell Ethan was dumped from the villa during an unexpected recoupling, with many claiming he was 'robbed' of a genuine experience and predicting he will return for a future All Stars series.
Dramatic Recoupling Leaves Ethan Single
During last night's episode (July 20), the remaining Islanders reunited with their friends and family for the first time in weeks. The emotional day was followed by a surprise text from Simba, which read: 'Islanders, tonight there will be a recoupling in which the girls will decide which boy they want to couple up with.' As the girls delivered their speeches, Ethan was left without a partner and immediately axed from the island.
Viewers at home were far from pleased, with many taking to social media to express their anger. One Reddit user commented: 'I cannot believe she [Priya] added "I can honestly say no guy has made me feel special in here besides you" to Aidan in her recoupling speech, as Ethan is standing right beside him. Ethan went above and beyond to only pursue her, make her coffees, inquire about her, etc etc etc. It made me feel so sad for him. You can tell that line punched him a bit.'
Fans Demand Justice for Ethan
Another Reddit user agreed: 'Ethan was robbed of his love island experience. Not necessarily all because of Priya but unfortunately because no other bombshells came in. I liked him. I would have liked him to come in sooner. Maybe even an OG.' A third added: 'I did think that was a dig at Ethan. Like what has Aidan done? Made her few coffees I suppose.'
However, not all viewers sided with Ethan. One person argued: 'Ethan has made it clear he wasn't into Priya and if there had been other bombshells or single Islanders, he would have gone for them. He told his mom on family day he was not really interested in her. Why should Priya have to change her speech or what she wants to say because Ethan is there and single? Saying Aidan has made her feel special is pretty tame, it's not like she flat out insulted Ethan. He made her coffee, tried to get to know her, it didn't work out. It's not that deep.'
All Stars Hopes for Ethan
On X, fans demanded Ethan's return for a future series. One person wrote: 'Justice for Ethan. He best be on all stars next. Such a good lad. Deserves the world, such cr**py circumstances, no one's fault, just c**p.' Another penned: 'The way they treated Ethan this season he better have an offer for games on his desk as we speak.' A third declared: 'Ethan has got to come back for another series... he deserved a better chance and more time.' A fourth remarked: 'Never in love island history had they had someone not in a real couple meet the family, I hope they bring Ethan back for next season.'
