Love Island fans 'howling' after Grafties twist

Love Island enthusiasts were left shouting at their televisions as the series ventured into new territory during The Grafties. The ceremony has become a fixture of every season since its debut in 2023. This year, the event was spread over two nights, but there was an unexpected twist awaiting.

The drama kicked off when Aidan scooped another award following the family and friends visit, during which he had a private conversation with Jasmine's sister. However, he stated: "I feel like I don't deserve this award because this Bella situation has been blown out of proportion. It was all a joke." Most Islanders struggled to maintain their composure during Aidan's speech, reports OK!

Clips from Aftersun and The Debrief shown

Next up was the raunchiest moment, with Priya and Aidan's escapade to the Hideaway nominated. Also shortlisted in the category were Julia and Lorenzo, as well as Aidan on his own for licking Elicia in the Hideaway while Finley looked on. As he collected his third trophy, Aidan attempted to argue that he and Priya were more deserving of the award. The most dramatic moment was next, featuring Simba's multiple walkouts and Priya and Samraj's heated argument.

Samraj evidently hadn't let go of the past as he told the group that he didn't think the moment should be celebrated. Jasmine was also nominated for her rant after Movie Night, but Simba walked away with the trophy. The most emotional moment was a tough call between Lorenzo's tears after the dumpings, Simba's weepy firepit speech, Jasmine's breakdown over Kavan post Casa recoupling and the heartfelt moment between Samraj and Simba. However, Lorenzo took home the title.

Final award causes stir

In a surprising twist, the final award of the evening, The Keep My Name Out of Your Mouth Award, saw nominations from dumped Islanders who had made comments on Love Island Aftersun. Among the nominees were Charleen, who joked she 'picked the wrong brother', and Elicia, who claimed that Priya was the 'biggest game player'. Aidan retorted that she was just 'p****d off he didn't pick her'. Priya shot back: "She's so bitter." She added: "It's really sad ... Jealousy's a disease, get well soon. She's not here and I'm not."

Outside world comments also made their way into the villa, with Lola's remarks about Julia being aired. Julia seemed unfazed, simply stating: "She talks a lot." Charleen found herself nominated again for comments about Mica, where she confirmed they would not be friends outside the villa. This ended up winning the award, with Mica reluctantly accepting the prize on Charleen's behalf.

Fans react to unprecedented twist

Fans quickly took to social media to share their thoughts. One observed: "Production is on one including these Aftersun clips, this has NEVER been done before and I am here for it." Another chimed in: "Producers using Aftersun and Debrief clips to show the villa? They really want more drama before the final." Someone else posted: "The podcast and Aftersun clips are SO messy I'm screaming." While one person replied: "HOWLING. Using Aftersun clips is crazy." While one person posted: "Them showing Aftersun clips is so messsyyy"

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
