Louise Redknapp has admitted she has been 'crying 10 times a day' as her eldest son Charley prepares to move to America for university. The 47-year-old singer and former Eternal member shared her emotional state as Charley, 18, recently completed his final year at Epsom College.
'I keep crying. I cry like 10 times a day at the moment, like if someone’s nice to me I start crying like, 'Sorry it’s just my son’s going to university',' Louise explained to Metro.co.uk. She added: 'Everyone who’s had kids go off to university say, it’s normal. I’m super proud of him but, God, I’m gonna miss him.'
Louise, who shares Charley and 13-year-old Beau with ex-husband Jamie Redknapp, joked that she wished her son had chosen a university closer to home. She took to social media in early July to share a photo of herself posing with Charley at his school leavers' dinner, captioning it: 'So proud of my boy and best friend... School leavers dinner tonight, next stop uni.'
Jamie Redknapp also praised Charley on his achievements, posting a picture of the duo and writing: 'Epsom college leavers ball. Wow! You guys were on fire tonight. I'm so proud of you and the man you're turning into... Next stop [American flag and football emojis].' He then teased: 'We might have to work on your bow tie game. Have a word.'
The former couple recently celebrated Charley's 18th birthday together, with both posting family photo montages on Instagram. Louise called Charley her 'best friend' and 'superstar', adding: 'I can’t put into words how much I love you and how proud I am of you... I’ll be there jumping on a plane every weekend to Arizona.'
