Louis Tomlinson Donates £4,000 for Ex-One Direction Bodyguard's Surgery
Louis Tomlinson's £4k Donation Saves Bodyguard's Legs

Former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has stepped in with a significant four-figure donation to help save the legs of Preston Mahon, a bodyguard who protected the band during their peak fame.

A Life-Saving Gesture

Preston Mahon, who guarded Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Zayn Malik, was facing a dire medical crisis. He needed urgent surgery to clear blocked arteries in both of his legs, a procedure known as angioplasty. After being told by the NHS that the rules had changed post-Covid and that nothing more could be done for him—with the next step being bypass and amputation—Preston took matters into his own hands. He decided to fly to Spain for a private operation to have stents fitted, a procedure costing 32,000 euros in total, for which he used all his savings.

Tomlinson's Generous Contribution

In a public display of support, Preston set up a GoFundMe page to raise the necessary funds. Among the donors was Louis Tomlinson, who made a public donation of £4,000. Preston told The Sun, 'I'm so appreciative, it means the world to me.' This generous contribution from the singer represents a major step towards covering the substantial cost of the life-saving surgery.

New Music and Personal Life

Louis's kind-hearted act comes amidst a busy period in his own career. He recently released his new track, 'Palaces,' on Thursday, leaving fans 'speechless' with its quality. The song, taken from his upcoming album 'How Did I Get Here?', features lyrics that seemingly reference his romance with girlfriend Zara McDermott. The couple, who went Instagram official this summer, have seen their relationship blossom, with Zara even moving into Louis's north London mansion. She showed her support for his new music by sharing it on her Instagram Stories, simply writing 'incredible'.

Fans echoed this sentiment, praising the track as their 'favourite song' of his so far. The couple's relationship is clearly serious and supported by their families, marking a happy chapter for the singer alongside his charitable endeavours.
