Lorraine Kelly, the ITV presenter, has been married to television cameraman Steve Smith for over three decades. The couple first met in the 1980s when Kelly worked as a reporter and Smith was part of the crew at TV-am. They exchanged vows on September 5, 1992, at Mains Castle in Dundee, Scotland, and welcomed their daughter Rosie two years later. In 2024, they became grandparents when Rosie had her daughter, Billie.
Wedding Day Regrets
Kelly has joked about their differing wedding attire, telling Hello magazine: "The boys all looked fabulous in their kilts, then there was me in this ghastly number with big puffy sleeves." She added: "I remember going to a wedding fair with my best friend and I'm not kidding you, I tried on one in the sale and thought, 'It fits, it's cheap and it's nice' - and I bought it there and then. Big mistake."
Miscarriage and Support
In 2001, Kelly suffered a miscarriage while carrying her second child, which left her "devastated and questioning everything." Speaking on the Happy Baby podcast with Giovanna Fletcher, she said: "I think we've got to be a bit more considerate about everyone and not just partners but extended family."
Low-Profile Marriage
The couple keeps a relatively low profile at red carpet events. Kelly explained: "His idea of hell on earth would be at something like a premiere. It would be like having needles stuck in his eyes. That does help. It must be very odd being with someone who enjoys walking down a red carpet." Despite this, Smith shows his appreciation in his own way: "On the rare occasions I might wear something a little lower cut than normal on my show, he sends me a wee text to say, 'Nice boobies!' So he appreciates that."
