Lorraine Kelly has issued a heartfelt plea to Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, urging him to mend his relationship with his mother Caroline before his upcoming wedding to Holly Ramsay. The television presenter addressed the six-time Olympian directly during her ITV programme, warning that he may regret excluding his family from his big day.
Speaking to entertainment reporter Rishi Davda, Kelly expressed sadness over reports that Caroline has been frozen out of wedding preparations and may not even attend the ceremony. She said: “Adam, if you're watching, pick up the phone to your mum. You and your mum have to sit down and work that out. You cannot, I don't think, you'll regret it if you get married and your mum's not there.”
The feud came to light after Caroline was notably absent from Holly Ramsay’s hen party at Soho Farmhouse, attended by Holly’s mother Tana and Victoria Beckham. Sources close to Caroline claimed that Adam now believes his working-class family are “not good enough” for his new showbiz circle, and that his mother was excluded because she “might have stuck out a bit”.
Friends of the Peaty family alleged that the 30-year-old has “changed” since meeting Holly, the daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. One source told the Daily Mail that his “ego and self-importance has just got bigger” and that he had become “almost a bully” towards his mother. Another source claimed Holly had “triggered” the fallout, citing “the power of the rich and famous”.
Caroline Peaty has alluded to the rift on social media, sharing cryptic quotes such as: “When you love someone, you protect them from the pain, you don't become the cause of it.” Her sister and Adam’s aunt, Louise Williams, also posted a public message to Holly, accusing her of being “divisive and hurtful” and noting that she invited her own mother but not her future mother-in-law to the hen party.
