Lorraine Kelly has shared the song she would like played at her funeral, months after the death of her father. The 66-year-old ITV presenter opened up in an interview with the Irish Independent's Sunday magazine.
Funeral song choice
Kelly said she wants 'Careful by Horse' played at her funeral. 'She's a Scottish artist,' the presenter explained. 'It's the most beautiful, haunting song.' She added that after the song, she would like everyone to have 'a massive party'. 'Hopefully, I'm going to die in my bed when I'm 102,' she said.
The broadcaster also discussed the afterlife but admitted she is not a religious person. 'I think that you live on in the people who love you,' she added.
Father's death
Kelly's father, John Kelly, died in January at the age of 84. In a social media post at the time, she wrote: 'Very sad news. My dad has died. I am mourning the man who bought me a telescope when I was five years old, who watched the moon landings with me and taught me to always be curious and interested in everything.' She noted that he 'was in poor health but it has still been a shock'. John was reportedly found injured on an outdoor path in East Kilbride near St Leonard's Square shopping centre.
Show changes
Kelly's ITV show recently went on break. On July 3, she signed off by telling viewers the programme would be off air 'for a wee while' and that she would 'really miss' everyone. 'I'll see you very, very soon,' she said. The change follows ITV budget cuts that reduced her show from an hour to 30 minutes and placed it on a 30-week seasonal basis from January.
