Lorraine Kelly 'Distraught' After Death of Beloved Father John, 84

Lorraine Kelly has announced the death of her father John at the age of 84. The Scottish TV presenter described it as a 'distressing time' as she shared the news with her followers on Instagram on Saturday.

John Kelly worked as a TV service engineer before retiring. He was married to Lorraine's mother Anne for over six decades. The couple had two children: Lorraine, born in 1959, and her younger brother Graham, born six years later.

In her tribute, Lorraine recalled how her father bought her a telescope when she was five, watched the moon landings with her, and taught her to always be curious. She noted he had been in poor health, but his death still came as a shock. She asked for privacy for the family as they care for her mother.

Colleagues and friends, including Coleen Nolan, Dawn French, Ben Shephard, and Vanessa Feltz, offered condolences. Lorraine had previously spoken about her father's ill health, including heart failure and an infection before the pandemic, and thanked NHS staff at Hairmyres Hospital for their care.
