Lorna Luxe Admits She Never Had a Bank Card as She Struggles After Husband's Death

Social media influencer Lorna Luxe has revealed she has never owned her own bank card and is finding it difficult to manage household affairs following the death of her husband John Andrews. The 43-year-old, who married Andrews in 2009, lost him to cancer in February at the age of 64.

Speaking on Davina McCall's Begin Again podcast, Luxe said she had to order a bank card just two days after her husband's death. She recounted trying to pay a bill using his banking app after her own card did not arrive promptly, only to be questioned by a bank employee about why she was accessing his account.

Luxe admitted she found the initial period overwhelming, with bills piling up and administrative tasks she had never handled. She described opening letters and dealing with them "bit by bit", acknowledging that her husband had managed all practical matters during their 16-year marriage.

In the days before his death, Andrews expressed concern about Luxe's ability to cope, as she had never needed to learn tasks such as paying bills or managing finances. Luxe said she had lived independently before meeting him but found such responsibilities uninteresting, and he was happy to take them on.

Despite the challenges, Luxe said she is gradually learning to handle things, though she still feels the weight of the responsibility. She described some days as staring at letters before mustering the courage to deal with them, but noted they are often less daunting than anticipated.
