"John's condition has worsened and he was hit with sepsis over Christmas," Lorna wrote. "He's back home with me now, but we've been told his cancer has progressed to other organs so treatment is no longer an option. But one thing about John, in the 16 years we've been married, his mindset has never wavered. We're looking for a bit of a miracle."

In her emotional statement announcing John's passing, Lorna shared intimate details of their final moments together: "My beautiful, brave John died yesterday. I am heartbroken. We were together to the very end, at home, in our own bed and holding hands which is exactly what he wanted."
She continued with a touching recollection of their last conversation: "The last conversation we had I asked him how he was feeling and he replied 'rough but in love' and that was so him, to the point and choosing to put aside his fears to make me feel cherished and loved."
