Influencer Lorna Luxe Announces Husband John Andrews' Death After Cancer Battle
Social media influencer Lorna Luxe has announced the death of her beloved husband, John Andrews, following a devastating battle with stage four adrenal cancer. The couple had been married for sixteen years.
Heartbreaking Announcement on Social Media
In a poignant statement shared on Instagram, Lorna revealed the sad news: "My beautiful, brave John died yesterday. I am heartbroken. We were together to the very end, at home, in our own bed and holding hands which is exactly what he wanted."
She went on to describe their final conversation: "The last conversation we had I asked him how he was feeling and he replied 'rough but in love' and that was so him, to the point and choosing to put aside his fears to make me feel cherished and loved."
Lorna expressed profound gratitude for the medical support they received: "John and I were so grateful to the district nurses who came daily to support us and make him comfortable. Anna was his favourite nurse and the kindness she showed him was beyond, she was a real life angel."
Long Battle with Adrenal Cancer
John Andrews was first diagnosed with stage four adrenal cancer in April 2023. This rare tumour forms at the top of one or both kidneys. After undergoing treatment, the former banker entered remission, but the cancer returned in 2024 and had spread to his brain.
He underwent surgery and "defied the odds" according to the couple, who maintained hope throughout his continued battle with the disease. However, last year he faced additional health challenges, including a bout of sepsis over the Christmas period.
By November, after a trip to Italy, his health declined significantly. Lorna revealed: "He’s back home with me now but we’ve been told his cancer has progressed to other organs. So, treatment’s no longer an option."
Final Weeks and Public Updates
On February 7, Lorna shared a heartbreaking update on Instagram Stories, writing: "I want you to know how grateful me and John are for all the kind messages... We don't know how long we have but we're holding each other tight."
This came after she was forced to postpone a charity event at The Alan Hotel in Manchester scheduled for February 7, explaining: "John is currently extremely unwell, and right now it isn't the right time for me to be away from his side."
Despite the devastating prognosis, Lorna emphasized their positive mindset: "One thing about John, in the 16 years we’ve been married, his mindset’s never wavered. Like a lot of things, I take that for granted. But I think he’s possibly the bravest person I know... at this point we’re looking for a bit of a miracle."
She added: "We can’t lose hope. And if there’s one thing I know about me and John to be true, we haven’t come this far, just to come this far."
Community Support and Legacy
Throughout John's illness, the couple were encouraged by an outpouring of love from friends and strangers alike. Lorna acknowledged this support in her posts, noting how it helped sustain them during difficult times.
The charity event that was postponed will be rescheduled, with all ticket sales still being donated to Maggie's Cancer Care and The Meath Epilepsy Charity, reflecting the couple's commitment to supporting others facing similar challenges.
Lorna concluded her announcement with a touching tribute: "John you are a class act and I will love you forever."
