Loose Women star reveals truth about stripping with Pete Wicks

Sherrie Hewson has revealed what it was really like stripping off alongside Pete Wicks for ITV's The Full Monty, admitting the naked stage experience was “slightly less fun” than she had expected. The former Loose Women star also lifted the lid on what the ex-TOWIE star was really like behind the scenes.

What Sherrie said about the show

Sherrie, 76, joined Pete, Coleen Nolan and Paul Burrell on The Full Monty in 2023, which saw the famous faces ditch their clothes on stage to raise awareness and money for charity. The actress, best known for playing Joyce Temple-Savage in Benidorm, said the experience was ultimately unforgettable – although getting naked in front of an audience was another matter.

When asked about taking part and whether she felt nervous about stripping off, Sherrie said: “The Full Monty was absolutely hysterical. I was with my dear friend Coleen Nolan, who I adore, and wonderful people like Pete Wicks and Paul Burrell. We laughed so much and became really close.

“We all knew why we were doing it. It was about raising awareness and supporting charities. That's what made it special. As for the stripping off, that was slightly less fun! But we got through it together and were all close friends at the end.”

Why the cause is close to her heart

Sherrie took part in the performance in honour of her late brother Brett, who died from a glioblastoma brain tumour. The heartbreaking loss has inspired the actress to throw herself into fundraising and raising awareness, with the cause remaining particularly close to her heart.

And now Sherrie is helping bring some of the magic of Benidorm back for a special charity night. The actress has called for the much-loved ITV sitcom to return, saying she believes the cast would happily reunite if the opportunity arose. Benidorm ran for 10 series before coming to an end in 2018, but Sherrie says the show continues to find new fans thanks to its constant presence on television.

Benidorm Nights charity event

“Everyone asks me about Benidorm and of course we'd all love it to come back!” she said. “It's still on television all the time and people are still discovering it and loving it. We had the best time making it and it gave us so many wonderful memories.”

While there is currently no confirmed comeback, fans can get a taste of the show's holiday spirit at Benidorm Nights, which will raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity. The event promises music, comedy, tapas, prizes and tribute acts celebrating stars including Elvis, Cher, Shania Twain, George Michael, Dolly Parton and The Four Tops.

Sherrie added: “There'll be tapas, prizes and lots of people dressed as their favourite Benidorm characters. It's a really uplifting night full of laughter and fun, all while raising money for a cause that means so much to me.”
