Loose Women star apologises after mop moment sparks HR joke

Janet Street-Porter apologised for her behaviour on Loose Women after throwing a mop just seconds into the episode, prompting co-star Charlene White to joke about contacting HR.

The ITV show returned to screens on Tuesday (October 6) with Charlene White, Kelly Brook, Janet Street-Porter and Jane Moore at the helm to discuss the latest news and headlines from around the globe.

Things took an unexpected turn almost immediately. After mentioning that Piers Brosnan has a favourite chore, Charlene asked: “Does everyone have a favourite household chore?”

Mop thrown seconds into the show

Janet could then be seen holding a mop, and she declared: “No,” before chucking it in front of her. A shocked Kelly Brook covered her mouth with her hands as her co-stars giggled.

Charlene added: “I mean, you almost whacked the camera crew then Janet, but never mind!” After the title cards played, the panel could be seen sitting together.

Charlene declared: “Honestly, that mop went straight through the camera!” Janet then quipped: “I’m sorry, apologies at the outset!”

HR joke follows apology

Charlene then joked: “There we go, we won’t have any more of that behaviour, Jane. Otherwise, we’ll be calling HR!”

Janet has been a firm favourite on Loose Women since 2011 and has become known for her opinions and thoughts. Last year, Janet briefly bid farewell to the ITV chat show as she underwent a knee replacement.

At the time, she shared: "I'm going for a knee replacement, my right knee. I've had my left knee done, oh it must be eight or nine years ago.

“Last October, I had my left hip replaced, so the left-hand side of my body is virtually bionic. So, tomorrow it's the right knee, and quite honestly, I can't wait."

Janet's health update

When asked if she is in a lot of pain, Janet admitted: "I'm in a huge amount of pain, and then I ripped my neck just to put the icing on the cake, so I can't move it."

She continued: "I'm gonna be off for three weeks, so I'm not off forever, I'm gonna be doing all that physio, and I want to say to anyone out there contemplating knee replacement, stick to the exercises. Get up, move around as much as you can... The last two weeks have been really chronic."

Loose Women airs Monday to Friday at 12:30pm on ITV1.
