The cause of death for American actress Loni Anderson, best known for her role in the sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati, has been confirmed as metastatic uterine leiomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. The information comes from a death certificate obtained by TMZ, which listed no other contributing factors.
Anderson died on 3 August in Los Angeles, just days before her 80th birthday. Her publicist, Cheryl J. Kagan, had previously stated that the actress died as a result of an acute prolonged illness.
Anderson earned two Emmy nominations and three Golden Globe nods for her portrayal of Jennifer Marlowe, the sharp-witted receptionist on the CBS sitcom, which aired from 1978 to 1982. She also played Jayne Mansfield in a 1980 television film opposite a young Arnold Schwarzenegger, and appeared in numerous other TV shows, including The Love Boat, Three's Company, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
Outside of acting, Anderson was known for her tumultuous relationship and six-year marriage to actor Burt Reynolds, which ended in divorce in 1993. She later wrote a New York Times bestselling autobiography, My Life in High Heels, chronicling her childhood, career, and marriages. Her final on-screen credit was the 2023 Lifetime film Ladies of the 80's: A Divas Christmas.
