Lisa Faulkner has sent a grateful message to TV chef husband John Torode weeks after she revealed her breast cancer diagnosis.
Lisa rose to fame as both an actress and celebrity television chef. She's had roles in hit television shows such as Spooks and EastEnders, before she successfully pivoted to the culinary world after winning Celebrity MasterChef in 2010, subsequently launching bestselling cookbooks and co-hosting ITV’s John & Lisa's Weekend Kitchen.
She first met now-husband John Torode in 2010 when Lisa was a contestant on Celebrity MasterChef. They started dating the following year and got engaged on Christmas Day in 2018.
Birthday Tribute and Cancer Support
It was then in 2019 that the couple tied the knot at a stunning ceremony at Aynhoe Park in Northamptonshire. Their celebrations were held over two days, and her daughter Billie was given the role of best woman.
The couple share a blended family with five children from previous relationships, and taking to her Instagram Lisa wished her TV chef husband a happy birthday while gushing over his support amid her recent cancer diagnosis.
She penned: "Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband @johntorodecooks I hope you have the best day my best friend. What a year it’s been but we held each others hands and I couldn’t have got through these past few months without you by my side."
"You are the kindest man with the gentlest biggest heart and you make my heart thump I look forward to a birthday coffee in our spot in the garden I love you my Johno and so does Rory."
As friends and fans left supportive comments and well wishes, including Loose Women panellist Ruth Langsford, John responded: "And I love and adore you .."
Cancer Diagnosis Announcement
Lisa took to her social media earlier this month to announce the news that she had surgery following her diagnosis of breast cancer. Sharing the news in a video, Lisa was supported in the comments.
She said: "I know I’ve been very quiet on here, reason being I have had to have surgery for the early stages of breast cancer. I had surgery two weeks ago, it was quite a big op but it’s all good and I’ve my results back and they’ve got everything out. So it’s all clear and I just need now to have some radiotherapy in a few weeks."
"I just wanted to say I’ve got a bit of healing to do but I’m good. I’m well and feeling so much better and I’m so grateful I went for my mammogram. I just wanted to say don’t put them off, go, because they found this and without that mammogram it wouldn’t have been picked up."
Lisa rounded off the personal update: "Thank you to our wonderful NHS and the fact we can have these mammograms and we can get treatment early."
