A lipreader has revealed what she claims Volodymyr Zelensky told Benjamin Netanyahu during a tense exchange at the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham in Washington. The Ukrainian President and Israeli Prime Minister were filmed having a passionate conversation at Washington National Cathedral.
Nicola Hickling, an expert in lipreading, said the pair were not seeing eye to eye. Cameras only picked up Zelensky's side of the exchange.
What Zelensky said
According to Hickling, Zelensky said: 'We have conditions, they’ve not met them. We must get them to agree.' After Netanyahu responded, Zelensky said: 'That’s incorrect.' As they were joined by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and US Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, Zelensky added: 'We want it this way too. Let’s agree to disagree.' He then nodded and said 'Good' before the pair shook hands and smiled.
Other moments at the funeral
The funeral also included a viral moment when President Donald Trump offered a box of Tic Tacs to Vice President JD Vance. Trump appeared to struggle to keep his eyes open, seeming on the verge of nodding off while seated at the front of the packed cathedral.
In his eulogy, Trump recalled leaking Graham’s phone number during a 2015 feud, reading it out: '202-228-0292, if anybody wants to give it a shot.' Graham died of an aortic dissection.
