Lily Allen has said a former partner accused her of poor hygiene as a form of control and abuse. The singer and actor discussed the relationship on her podcast, Miss Me?, with Miquita Oliver, stating that the accusations were not genuine but intended to undermine her confidence.
“It was somebody I was in a relationship with who would do it to me, and I don’t think that it was real,” Allen said, without naming the ex. She described the behaviour as “a form of bullying and abuse” designed to make her feel self-conscious and to give the other person a sense of power.
Allen recently separated from her husband, actor David Harbour, after four years of marriage. She entered a treatment centre to cope with the resulting “emotional turmoil”.
On the music front, Allen has noticed a resurgence in interest in her work, particularly among younger listeners. She is working on her first album since 2018’s No Shame, having written around 50 songs during sessions in Nashville, Tennessee. In June, she made a surprise appearance at Glastonbury 2025 to perform the track ‘Roll The Dice’ with Shy FX.
Allen has set a goal to finish the new record by the end of 2025.
