Liam Payne's Ex Kate Cassidy 'Dumped' for Comparing New Boyfriend to Late Star
Liam Payne's Ex Dumped for Comparing New BF to Him

Kate Cassidy, the former girlfriend of late One Direction star Liam Payne, has revealed the surprising reason she was recently broken up with. In a candid video shared with her nearly 2 million followers, the 27-year-old explained that her new partner ended their relationship because she kept comparing him to Payne.

“I got dumped, you guys,” Cassidy said in the video. “Dating after losing somebody that you genuinely thought you were going to spend the rest of your life with is really tough because I physically look for Liam in every single guy that I meet.”

She admitted to asking her new partner, “Liam would do this, so why aren’t you doing this?” The comparison proved too much for the new boyfriend, who texted her to end things. “He texted me yesterday and told me we should go our separate ways because it’s just too much, and I understand,” Cassidy added. “I feel sad because I don’t like losing people, and I feel like, especially in the beginning of a situationship, it’s so fun, and you’re so excited to see where it goes.”

Payne's Tragic Death and Cassidy's Grief

Liam Payne died on October 16, 2024, at the age of 31, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Cassidy had dated the singer for more than two years before his untimely death. Since then, she has been sharing her grieving process with fans, regularly posting pictures of him on her Instagram page.

In a previous interview on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, Cassidy revealed the chilling final words she exchanged with Payne when she left Argentina to return to Florida, just days before his death. “I remember sitting there with him, and I was going on and on and on about how much I love him, and he laughed and interrupted me, and was like, ‘Kate, you’re gonna miss your flight, your car is in the driveway’,” she recalled. Payne then told her, “You’re acting like this is the last time you are ever gonna see me again.”

Cassidy reflected, “I just laughed back. But to look back in time and know that that was the last time I was ever going to see him again is just so chilling. I am so blessed that it was that heartfelt goodbye. Our last goodbye, I wouldn’t have wanted it to be any differently. I am so glad we had that beautiful time together, and I wouldn’t change that.”

Payne's Love for One Direction

Cassidy also spoke about how much the late star loved One Direction. “It was such a huge part of his life and career. Who didn’t love them? I think everybody had hopes for a reunion at some point,” she said. “Liam would have been more than happy in the future to do that. He was so proud of the boys. He loved them so much he looked at them as brothers.”

The revelation comes as Payne's son Bear, now 8, is set to inherit the singer's entire fortune, according to recent reports. Cassidy continues to navigate life after loss, openly sharing her journey with her followers.
