Joely Richardson, 60, has paid tribute to her late sister Natasha Richardson with a series of throwback photos from the summer of Natasha's wedding to Liam Neeson in 1994. The actress shared the images on social media as she reflected on family over the New Year period.
Natasha Richardson died in 2009 at the age of 45 after suffering a fatal head injury in a skiing accident. Joely posted a heartfelt message alongside the photographs, writing: 'Thinking about families over these holidays. How much we can infuriate each other, push each others buttons etc, but oh that primordial LOVE.'
The pictures show Natasha with her mother Vanessa Redgrave, brother Carlo Nero, Joely and Joely's daughter Daisy Bevan, who was a bridesmaid at the wedding. Joely explained that her mother had been unable to attend the ceremony, so the family raised a glass at a later gathering in London.
Natasha and Liam Neeson met in 1993 while starring together in the Broadway play Anna Christie. They married the following year at their country home in Millbrook, New York. Neeson later recalled how Natasha surprised him at the wedding by singing Van Morrison's 'Crazy Love', having secretly taken singing lessons to learn the song.
The couple were together for 15 years until Natasha's sudden death. Joely, who also followed her mother into acting, has previously spoken about the advice Vanessa Redgrave gave her: 'Stay forever a student. It's a life lesson. Never think you know the answers, be open and you'll learn something new every day.'
