Liam Gallagher's Teetotal Tour Discipline with One Secret Backstage Vice

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher maintained a strict teetotal regimen throughout the band's highly anticipated 2025 reunion world tour, abstaining completely from alcohol and drugs to preserve his vocal performance across all forty-one scheduled concerts. However, the singer permitted himself one discreet indulgence backstage as the tour progressed.

The "Little Liam Tent" and the Vaping Revelation

According to Damon Minchella, the former Ocean Colour Scene bassist and longtime friend of the Gallagher brothers, Liam would retreat to a private backstage area dubbed his "little Liam tent" during the segments of the show where his brother Noel performed his three solo songs. Initially, this space contained only water, but by the tour's conclusion, it also housed a vape device.

"Me and Rich spoke about it, the way he held it together to get that tour done," Minchella revealed, referencing discussions with Richard Ashcroft, whose band supported Oasis. "No drugs, no booze, not even smoking. He was starting to vape a little bit towards the end of it. You could see it, he had a little tent backstage when Noel is doing his songs in the middle, this little Liam tent, it went from having water in it, to water and a couple of vapes by the end of the tour."

Minchella praised Gallagher's discipline, emphasising the immense pressure and financial stakes involved in the reunion. "God bless him for it, because it was such a big thing, and it was such a big thing to f**k up as well," he stated, noting that fans felt the experience was worth far more than the ticket prices.

Insurance Concerns and Backstage Separation

The tour's organisation included significant measures to prevent any potential conflict between the famously fractious siblings. Minchella explained that obtaining insurance for the Oasis Live '25 tour was exceptionally difficult because insurers feared a repeat of the 2009 bust-up that originally split the band. Consequently, Liam and Noel largely avoided each other backstage.

"There's many reasons for it but the main one is that they couldn't get the tour insured because everyone was expecting Noel and Liam to fall out, there was too much riding on it," Minchella claimed during an appearance on The Oasis Podcast. "So I know they decided early doors this is the way it's going to be. For Liam as well he's got no off switch so if he's hanging out backstage he's just going to be talking, talking, talking and he's just going to blow his voice out. Liam would arrive literally 10 minutes before they go on stage and then straight off."

Noel Gallagher's Unprecedented Happiness

Despite the structured separation, the tour atmosphere was reportedly positive, particularly for Noel Gallagher. Minchella, who has known both brothers for over three decades, observed that the songwriter was exceptionally content throughout the experience.

"Noel was in catering from 5pm, bear in mind they weren't on stage until half eight, so there was no reason for him to be in catering with all the crew and with us lot, just chatting," he recounted. "He was just so happy, with what Bonehead has been through with throat cancer and what have you, he was just so happy, obviously Andy, Gem, everyone was just hanging out. I've never seen Noel that happy actually, it was lovely."

Noel Gallagher is set to receive further recognition this weekend, collecting the Songwriter of the Year award at the Brit Awards in Manchester. The full interview detailing these backstage insights with Damon Minchella is available on The Oasis podcast.
