Liam Gallagher has clapped back at a former Coronation Street actor who described Oasis as 'average' in a post on social media. The unexpected spat comes after the band, featuring Burnage brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, hit headlines again last week as they sold out their Oasis Live '27 tour.
Every ticket for the group's 42 live shows announced for next year across Scotland, England, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, France, Italy, the US and Ireland has been sold, which comes off the back of the success of their Oasis Live '25 reunion tour.
Charlie Lawson's 'average' verdict
In the UK, ticket sales took place from Friday (September 25) until Sunday (September 27) – with three selling windows each day. Following the last day of sales, Liam posted on X (formerly Twitter): "That's all folks we have officially sold out no more tickets left congratulations to everyone who got a ticket and to the people who didn't sneak in f*** it yolo."
But it appears not everyone is on board with Oasis' comeback, including actor Charlie Lawson, who is famed for playing Jim McDonald in ITV's Salford-filmed Corrie. He reshared a post on X which read: "Alright, no sitting on the fence. Do you think Oasis are overhyped… or are they genuinely one of the best bands the world has ever seen?" and said: "They are distinctly average."
Liam's response and fan reactions
Liam wasted no time in responding, with the singer typing back: "Like your f**king acting skills." Oasis guitarist and co-founder Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs was also seen getting involved as he replied: "What about ye Jim," before fans piled in with their comments on the unexpected Oasis x Coronation Street crossover.

Charlie is famed for having played Jim McDonald in the ITV soap from 1989 to 2018. But earlier this year, the legendary character's death occurred off-screen. After the rumours of Jim being killed-off emerged, Charlie wrote on social media: "I've known since early September, but I've always respected the confidentiality of the programme. It wasn't a surprise when I was informed last year."
