Liam Gallagher calls Beatles 'ungrateful' in Liverpool swipe

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has called the Beatles "ungrateful" in a swipe against the city of Liverpool and Scousers. The Mancunian singer has been at odds with Liverpool FC fans for days on X (formerly Twitter) after he suggested the team, among other Premier League teams, were "corrupt".

Rantings begin after Man City verdict

The rantings began after Manchester City were found guilty by an independent commission of 114 of the 115 charges they were accused of. After the response from fans, Liam took to X to suggest their hatred was misdirected.

On October 2, he said: "All this hatred directed at Man City from other clubs should be directed at Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool. They're the ones who are corrupt and trying to stop other teams from winning things not Man City. We're trying to help you all out, we're like Jesus prepared to die on the cross."

Latest statement targets Scousers and Beatles

Liam, who is often vocal and keen to interact with fans on X, has been discussing the matter - among others - for days. In his latest statement, he has taken a swipe at the city of Liverpool, Scousers and even the Beatles, branding Scousers "ungrateful".

The 54-year-old said: "All these Scousers giving me and my band s***, Oasis have done more for the city of Liverpool than they will ever do. Oasis put the Beatles back on the map which they no doubt directly profit from, ungrateful little sods MCFC LG x."

Oasis tour sells out

Oasis announced on Instagram at 4pm on September 14 that they would be heading out on tour in 2027. The band later added four new dates to their tour including extra nights at Knebworth, with tickets now sold out.

After the tour sold out, Liam said: "That's all folks we have officially sold out no more tickets left congratulations to everyone who got a ticket and to the people who didn't sneak in f*** it yolo." The band said in a separate post: "Tickets for Oasis Live '27 have now sold out. See you in 2027!"

Early Liverpool gig remembered

Just two days before releasing their debut 1994 single, 'Supersonic', Oasis performed to a packed club on Liverpool's Cumberland Street called Lomax. The venue was known for hosting emerging Britpop acts such as Radiohead, Supergrass and The Verve before they went on to huge fame and success.

Mike Hindley, who co-owned Lomax at the time, told the ECHO in 2008 that Oasis was only paid £100 between them for the gig.

'Supersonic' would debut at number 31 in the charts weeks later. In 2014, Rolling Stone released rare footage of the gig at Lomax to celebrate the reissue of Oasis' debut album Definitely Maybe. The band can be seen performing Cigarettes and Alcohol, a track they'd later release and peak at number seven in the UK charts. Oasis' success would begin spiralling from here. When Definitely Maybe entered the UK album chart in August 1994, it became the fastest-selling debut album in the UK at the time and demand for the group went stratospheric.
