The exchange began when Lawson responded to a post on X asking users whether Oasis are overhyped or one of the greatest bands ever. Lawson, who played Jim McDonald on and off between 1989 and 2018, wrote: 'They are distinctly average.'
Gallagher's blunt response
Gallagher saw the comment and responded: 'Like your f***ing acting skills.' Lawson then replied: 'Hello darling??!! You still takin a line in town?!'
Gallagher continued discussing the former Corrie star with other users. When someone questioned Lawson's acting credentials, Gallagher replied: 'Actor in his f***ing dreams.' Another user pointed out that Gallagher appeared to be 'going for everyone today', prompting the singer to write: 'He's had it coming for a long time silly old c***.'

Lawson, 67, became one of the soap's most recognisable faces after arriving on the cobbles alongside Beverley Callard, who played Jim's wife Liz McDonald. Simon Gregson and Nicholas Cochrane played their sons Steve and Andy. Jim's turbulent time in Weatherfield included prison sentences, alcoholism and the breakdown of his marriage to Liz. Lawson made his final appearance in 2018, with the character later being killed off-screen in Belfast in 2026. Away from Corrie, the Northern Irish actor appeared in programmes including Doctors, Rosemary & Thyme and The Bill. Lawson has not taken on acting roles since 2018, when he suffered a minor stroke while performing on stage.

The latest exchange comes shortly after Gallagher hit back at Oasis fans complaining about ticket prices for the band's next run of shows. Oasis are heading back on the road in 2027 following their reunion, with 38 concerts planned across the UK and Ireland, Europe and the US. After tickets went on sale for prices ranging from £71.50 to £266.60, some fans complained online about the cost. Gallagher's response was: 'STOP MOANING.' When another fan raised the issue of resellers asking for 'extortionate prices', Gallagher replied: 'Don't f***ing buy them SIMPLE.'
