Lewis Capaldi performed to more than 80,000 fans across two nights at Blackweir Fields in Cardiff on June 30 and July 1, 2026, delivering an 18-song setlist that included all six of his number one hits and a viral cover of Britney Spears' 'Everytime'. The sold-out shows were part of Cardiff's summer gig season, coinciding with Katy Perry's performance at Bute Park.
Capaldi's Food Order Revealed
During his second show, Capaldi gave a shout-out to The Spud Fam, a food vendor at the event, after mistakenly calling them Spud Man. He praised their jacket potatoes, saying: 'I'm glad I'm here [in Cardiff] because today I had an excellent jacket potato for lunch from Spud Man at the back. No, not Spud Man, Spud Fam. Listen - it was delicious anyway, so if you're on your way out and they're still open, buy yourself a spud. No matter how hard life gets, we always have jacket potatoes is what I am trying to say.'
The Spud Fam, typically based at Aberafan Shopping Centre in Port Talbot, confirmed the order in a Facebook post. Owner Jordanna Landeg revealed: 'He had cheese, beans and tuna on his jacket potato.' The combination offers complex carbohydrates, protein, and fibre, making it a suitable pre-performance meal.
Behind the Scenes with The Spud Fam
In a TikTok video, The Spud Fam detailed how Capaldi's PA approached them during a busy queue. 'Someone came over to us, which was Lewis's PA, and basically said is there any chance I can come to the front of the queue because Lewis wants a spud, and obviously he had to go on stage, so he couldn't wait,' they explained. 'We were like yeah, of course, but like afterwards, I was like, I doubt that is actually Lewis. I thought it was somebody just trying to have us on and jump the queue, but it was actually for Lewis.'
The vendor added: 'We didn't know, we didn't have a clue, we didn't meet him, and we would have loved to have met him. Because she said it was Lewis, I was like, oh, tell him you can have it free from The Spud Fam, but he insisted on paying with his card. It was just such a surreal moment for us.'
Cardiff's Summer Gig Scene
Capaldi's performances were part of a vibrant summer lineup in Cardiff, with other major acts drawing crowds. The Spud Fam was among several food vendors at Blackweir Fields, offering dirty fries, breakfast baps, and loaded jacket potatoes. Capaldi's simple order has since sparked fan interest, highlighting the appeal of street food at large-scale events.
