Lee Andrews' parents have released a statement distancing themselves from their son, insisting he is no longer the Lee "they knew." Katie Price's husband was allegedly released from prison two days ago after his second stint in Dubai's Al-Awir prison, often described as a 'hell hole.'
It was also alleged that his father, Peter Andrews, had been placed in the same prison, with father and son facing charges of fraud. Since their reported release, Lee's parents have worked together to share a statement about him.
Parents Speak Out
Sharing their desire to reveal all, the statement read: "Kelly Andrews and I just want to take a moment to speak the truth. Recent information shared has brought forward evidence that has left us both shocked. We are the first to admit when we're wrong, and now that there is proof, we feel it's important to acknowledge that."
The statement continued: "We also want people to understand that this involves Kelly's brother, which makes this incredibly painful for their family. The Lee we knew was never like this, which makes it even harder for us, as his sister and as a friend, to get our heads around everything that's come to light."
Legal Troubles in Dubai
Lee has faced repeated legal issues in Dubai in recent months. He was first detained in May, later claiming he had been questioned at what he described as a "black site" before it emerged he had been transferred to Al-Awir prison. He spent around a month behind bars before being released, with Katie travelling to Dubai for an emotional reunion with her husband. However, Lee was arrested again earlier this month.
This month, Lee was taken by police to Lahab police station in the Dubai desert yet again on July 10 and was scrambling to raise a £120,000 fine. His father Peter was said to have been thrown into the same jail as Lee after being reported to officials on suspicion of fraud.
Father Released
However, it has now been revealed that Peter has been released – and Katie has been in contact with him. A source told The Sun: "Katie is aware that Peter has been let out and has spoken to him. She's focusing on her life and job commitments in the UK at the moment and just putting her best foot forward."
