Shelby Young, who played the iconic pink-haired Stephanie in the pilot episode of Lazy Town, has shared a striking transformation 20 years after the show first aired. The 34-year-old actress posted a TikTok slideshow comparing her childhood costume with her current appearance, now sporting natural brunette hair instead of the famous pink wig.
Lazy Town, which aired on Nick Jr. from 2004 to 2014, focused on encouraging children to be active and healthy. Young was cast as Stephanie for the pilot and promotional material, but was later replaced by Julianna Mauriello and Chloe Lang due to union restrictions. She recalled being told she looked "exactly like" the character's animation during her audition.
Despite not appearing in the main series, Young has fond memories of filming in Iceland, including recording the signature song 'Bing Bang' and performing live shows. She described the experience as "great" and praised the actresses who later played Stephanie as "amazing".
Young has since appeared in American Horror Story, The Social Network, and Days of Our Lives, but says Lazy Town remains the role she is most asked about. Her throwback posts have garnered millions of views online.
