Lauren Goodger has revealed she plans to expand her family using a sperm donor or adoption, as she opens up about baby loss and future family plans in her new memoir, Mum Of Two: Love, Loss And My Life On TOWIE.
Plans for a Sibling
The 39-year-old TOWIE star hopes to give her eldest daughter Larose, five, a sibling. Her second daughter, Lorena, passed away shortly after birth four years ago. Goodger told OK! magazine: “If I don’t get into another relationship, then why not. I’m on my own now with Larose anyway, I’d find it easier than having to deal with a man. Maybe that’s a good option to think about, but it’s not on the cards yet.”
Memoir Details Trauma
In her memoir, Goodger recounts the trauma of losing Lorena and the difficulty of reliving those experiences. “It was so hard. I don’t really think of the past and that’s how I deal with things. But at the same time it made me realise, ‘How did I get through that?’” she said. “I’m still in fight or flight, I’m still healing and heartbroken. It’s changed me as a person. It did affect me physically, mentally and emotionally. Lauren’s never going to be old Lauren again, because I’ve changed.”
Loss of Ex-Boyfriend
Goodger also reflects on the sudden death of her ex-boyfriend Jake McLean, who died aged 33 in a car crash in Turkey days before Lorena’s birth. Though they were not together at the time, she feels a lasting connection. “He’s in my dreams constantly. We did so much together, we’ve got loads of memories. We went to Paris and we had a padlock on a bridge with our names on – it’s still there. He was a big part of me and I do believe [if he was still around] he’d have met Larose,” she said. “He should’ve come back to me and settled. I still speak to his mum and his sister and they said, ‘We wish you had a baby with him.’ I do think there was some sort of future. It was unfinished business with us.”
First Love Mark Wright
The memoir also revisits her relationship with teenage sweetheart and former TOWIE co-star Mark Wright, whom she dated from age 15. Goodger credits him with saving her during a troubled childhood. “I’m very happy for him, I’m so glad he’s now a dad,” she said of Wright, now married to actress Michelle Keegan. “It’s unfortunate that our lives have moved on in different directions, but if we bumped into them I’d say hello.”
Goodger co-parents Larose with her ex, Charles. Her book Lauren Goodger: Mum of Two (Mirror Books, £22) is available now.
