Laura Whitmore Praises Body Positivity in Pregnancy

TV presenter Laura Whitmore has expressed profound appreciation for her body during and after pregnancy, calling women "bloody superheroes" in a recent social media post. The 41-year-old broadcaster and former Love Island host, who recently announced the birth of her second child with husband Iain Stirling, shared a candid mirror selfie in her underwear with a knit cardigan, joking that "hot girl summer looks a bit different."

Whitmore's Body Positivity Message

In the post to her 1.4 million Instagram followers, Whitmore wrote: "I've never been more impressed or appreciative of my body than during and post pregnancy. Don't even talk to me about birth. Women are bloody superheroes. Whatever your journey, the recovery looks different to everyone but wearing big girl pants helps!!" She added, "Growing a baby, birthing a baby.. and then feeding a baby… surely men could have taken one of those jobs."

The Dublin-born presenter has received an outpouring of support, including from US singer-songwriter Anastacia, who commented that Whitmore is "still looking fashionable" despite her "big girl pants."

Previous Advocacy for Body Positivity

Following the birth of her daughter in March 2021, Whitmore also discussed body positivity among postpartum women, stating that her body is "not here for your comparison." She urged people to stop comparing mothers' bodies and encouraged women to "support other women."

Whitmore, who hosted Love Island from 2020 to 2022, announced her second pregnancy in February with a series of photos on Instagram, showing off her baby bump. In the caption, she humorously noted: "Instagram V Reality. Spoiler: It wasn't just a big meal mama ate. She's been cooking away! I'd like to thank stretchy pants and travel sick bags."

Whitmore has been in a relationship with Iain Stirling, the narrator of Love Island, since 2017. The couple married in 2020 and now have two children.
