TV presenter Laura Hamilton has defended herself against online critics who claimed she is 'too old to wear a bikini'. The 43-year-old A Place in the Sun star shared holiday snaps from Sardinia's Forte Village resort on Instagram, prompting a few negative comments.
In a subsequent post, Hamilton wrote: 'I recently read a comment saying I was too old to wear a bikini. It honestly made me stop and think for a second. But then I reminded myself, life's way too short to worry about what other people think.' She added: 'Today I'm wearing a swimsuit, not because of the comment I read but because I wanted to and I feel comfortable in it!'
Hamilton highlighted older celebrities who wear bikinis with confidence, including Davina McCall, 57, and Amanda Holden, 54. 'There are so many incredible women that I see who are my age and older and are absolutely rocking it,' she said. 'Look at Davina McCall - she looks incredible. Amanda Holden - so good.'
Her followers rallied in support, with one commenting: 'Bikinis don't come with age restrictions-just confidence requirements! The only age limit is the age you stop caring what other people think – 49 and still here in my bikinis.' Another, aged 62, revealed she only briefly switched to a one-piece after breast cancer treatment.
Hamilton also spoke about her frustration with some house hunters on the Channel 4 property programme, telling Woman Magazine: 'I have shown people houses and thought, 'You're not going to buy this? You're crazy!' But she acknowledged that 'you have to respect people's choices.'
