Lasgo's Evi Goffin on The Originals Live Tour and Party with Kylie Minogue
Lasgo's Evi Goffin on Tour and Kylie Minogue Party

Evi Goffin, the former lead singer of 1990s electronic group Lasgo, is stepping back into the spotlight as a solo artist on The Originals Live tour, a nostalgic celebration of 90s and 2000s dance music. The tour, which kicked off this month and culminates with a headline appearance at Gran Canaria's Winter Pride in November, has brought the excitement of her early career 'rushing back'.

A Full-Circle Moment

Goffin, now performing under her own name, described the feeling of being asked to join the tour as 'the same as when I signed my first record deal all those years ago'. She said, 'I honestly got the same feeling... That same excitement came rushing back. It’s such a special project to be part of, and I feel really flattered they asked me.'

She is the only artist from the 2000s on the lineup, surrounded by icons she grew up admiring. 'To now be sharing a stage with them feels surreal,' Goffin told the Mirror. 'Since 2018 I’ve been touring solo as Evie Goffin and setting my own goals, but I never imagined I’d end up doing something like this.'

Touring Then and Now

Goffin reflected on the stark contrast between touring in her early days and now. 'Back then everything was organised for me — my schedule, my appearances, my whole life really, and at that age I think I needed that guidance,' she said. 'Now I do everything myself. I choose which shows I do, how my performances look, who I work with. It gives me so much freedom and I’ve really grown into that independence. I love it.'

In her Lasgo heyday, Goffin toured with some of the biggest names in music, including Christina Aguilera, Santana, Sting, and Lisa Marie Presley. In the UK, she toured with the Sugababes and met Kylie Minogue, attending one of her birthday parties. 'It was surreal,' Goffin recalled. 'I was so young at the time and everything felt very glamorous. We had stylists dressing us, making sure we looked perfect for press and events. Kylie was lovely, though, really warm and welcoming.'

Memorable Backstage Encounters

Goffin shared a standout moment from her time in Los Angeles at the Rose Bowl, where she tried to meet Sting. 'I used to carry around this little autograph book with black pages and a silver pen,' she said. 'His bodyguard wasn’t sure at first, but when Sting came out, he said his kids loved our music and he happily took a photo with me. I couldn’t believe it.'

She also recalled Lisa Marie Presley's kindness: 'She made a point of coming back to take a picture with me after promising she would. That really stayed with me.' The only star she didn't meet properly was Christina Aguilera, who was 'heavily protected at the time', but Goffin was content to see her up close.

Personal Life and Touring

Despite the party reputation of the music scene, Goffin said she didn't experience much of that. 'I was already married at the time, so I didn’t really get involved in the party scene. A lot probably happened backstage, but I wasn’t there for most of it.'

She also shared a personal twist: Dave McCullen, who wrote Lasgo's songs and performed with the group, was just a friend back then, but they later became a couple.

The Originals Live tour continues with dates across the UK and Europe, ending with Winter Pride in Gran Canaria in November.
