Lady Victoria Hervey has dismissed claims that she was banned from the launch party of Andrew Lownie's controversial book, 'Entitled: The Rise And Fall Of The House Of York'. The event is set to take place at The London Library in St James's Square.
According to a report by Richard Eden in the Daily Mail, public relations executive Brian Basham requested to bring Lady Victoria as his plus-one, but the author declined, reportedly saying, 'Look forward to seeing you, but she’s barred.' The article suggested that Mr Lownie took exception to comments Lady Victoria made about his book on GB News.
However, Lady Victoria issued a statement to the Daily Express denying the story. She said: 'I definitely was not planning on going anywhere near that party. It was a joke I had with Brian Basham saying he would say I was Mrs Basham and I said I would come in a wig! Never would have gone though.'
Lady Victoria, sister of the Marquess of Bristol, was a prominent socialite in the 1990s. She has previously spoken about her past relationship with Prince Andrew and her connections to Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein. In an ITV documentary, she revealed a brief romance with the Duke of York in 1999.
In a 2023 interview with Mr Eden, Lady Victoria described working undercover in the US to support Ghislaine Maxwell, saying she felt she was being followed and was glad to return to the UK. She also confirmed she remains in touch with Prince Andrew but declined to discuss him further.
