Hollywood actor Kurt Russell has disclosed that Prince William, Prince Harry, the late Princess Diana, and then-Prince Charles stayed at his home for a secret family holiday in the 1990s. The 74-year-old Golden Globe nominee made the revelation during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, airing this Saturday on ITV1 and ITVX.
Russell recounted meeting King Charles and Princess Diana at the royal premiere of the film Backdraft in the early 1990s. He told Jonathan Ross: 'I met Diana - it was the royal premiere for Backdraft. I was sitting in between her and Charles. I understand her difficulties with paparazzi and all that kind of thing. I said if you ever want to go somewhere that's pretty under control, we'll work it out - let me know.'
According to the Daily Mail, Russell added: 'She brought the two boys and they stayed there for a week and had a wonderful time. I wasn't there, none of us were there at the time but she wrote some really nice cards and things like that.' The actor also explained that the future King of England was 'sleeping in his son's room'.
Prince Charles and Princess Diana divorced on 28 August 1996, after a 15-year marriage and a separation since 1992. Diana tragically died in a car accident in Paris on 31 August 1997, at the age of 36.
