KT Tunstall Fans Say 'We Were Robbed' After Cut Devil Wears Prada 2 Song Revealed
KT Tunstall Fans Robbed by Cut Devil Wears Prada 2 Song

KT Tunstall fans say they were 'robbed' after the singer revealed a song she recorded for The Devil Wears Prada 2 was cut from the film. Tunstall, best known for her iconic track Suddenly I See from the original 2006 movie, shared the unreleased song during her set at the State Fayre Festival in Chelmsford's Hylands Park.

Behind-the-scenes story of the cut song

The Scottish singer-songwriter, born in Edinburgh and raised in St Andrews, Fife, told the festival crowd she was approached by the film's creators to write a song for the highly anticipated sequel. After pitching her idea and recording the track, the producers ultimately decided not to use it, replacing it with another song.

Tunstall explained that she incorporated some lyrics from Suddenly I See into the new song, joking that 'nobody would sue' her for using her own work. She said: 'Do you want to know a wee secret? I did write a song for the second one. I went for a meeting with them and they were like "what's your idea?" And I was like, you know it's just 20 years later and I might steal some of the lyrics from the original song because no one is going to sue me for using them.'

She continued: 'And I'll just do something rocking about it being 20 years later. And they were like "brilliant", and I recorded it and they were like "nah". So in a parallel, better, universe, this is the song at the start of Devil Wears Prada 2. Are you ready?'

Performance of 'Look at Me Now'

Tunstall then performed the unreleased track, titled Look at Me Now, to the packed festival audience. The song, played mostly on guitar, had a 2000s feel similar to Suddenly I See and received an enthusiastic response.

Fan reactions

Fans who attended the festival and those who watched videos posted online expressed disappointment that the song was not included in the film. One fan commented: 'Wait this is so 2000's, we were robbed.' Another said: 'Infinitely better than what we ended up with.' A third added: 'Yeah, this would've worked perfectly for the beginning of the movie.' A fourth fan noted: 'I did love End of an Era for the beginning but it would've been full circle to use this version! It does feel cohesive with the original.'

The Devil Wears Prada 2, starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt, was released in 2025 and features a different opening song chosen by the filmmakers.
