Kris Marshall's Wife Hannah Dodkin Is a TV Star

Kris Marshall, known for his roles in My Family, Love Actually, and Death in Paradise, has been married to Hannah Dodkin since 2012. Dodkin is a TV personality who won the Middle Eastern version of The Apprentice in 2011.

How They Met and Married

Marshall and Dodkin met in 2010, despite growing up just two streets apart in Wells, Somerset. They got engaged a year later and married in February 2012 in their hometown. The couple have two children, Thomas and Elsie, and live in Bath.

Hannah Dodkin's TV Career

In 2011, Dodkin won Hydra Executive, a spin-off of The Apprentice set in Abu Dhabi. The show featured billionaire developer Sulaiman Al Fahim as the 'Lord Sugar' figure. Dodkin was initially fired in the ninth week but was brought back as a wild card and emerged as a joint winner, sharing a $1,000,000 prize.

Dodkin said at the time: "I feel truly proud of myself. Working as a plumber helped me enormously to grasp the technical aspects of the real estate market in the United Arab Emirates. It also makes me a little unique. Being a female on a building site in the Middle East is definitely rarer than back home."

Why Death in Paradise Gave Hannah Sleepless Nights

Marshall left Death in Paradise in 2017 to put his family first. He told The Mirror that his wife had been suffering from sleepless nights while he filmed in Guadeloupe. "It was very hard as my daughter was only three months old when I left," he admitted. "In some ways, it was easier for me than my wife, as I didn't have the sleepless nights."

Every six weeks, Marshall would make a 16-hour trip back to Britain. He described managing family and career as a "juggling mission" on Good Morning Britain. He added: "Skyping isn't the same and just leaves me bereft, really. Then I just had to go and drown my sorrows in the bar. It's time to move on and give someone else a chance to enjoy some sun."

Return to TV

Marshall reprised his role as DI Humphrey Goodman in the 2023 spin-off Beyond Paradise, which aired its fourth series in 2026. The show airs on BBC One and iPlayer.
