Kourtney Kardashian has offered a rare glimpse into her private family life, sharing a series of photographs on Instagram that she ironically titled “June gloom.” The collection, posted on 24 June, included an affectionate black-and-white image of her daughter Penelope, 13, lying on the floor with her younger brothers Reign, 11, and Rocky, two, resting on her back. The snapshot highlighted Penelope’s patience and the close bond shared by the siblings.
The reality star is mother to four children: Mason, 16, Penelope, 13, and Reign, 11, from her previous relationship with Scott Disick, and Rocky, two, with her husband Travis Barker. While Mason and Penelope appeared regularly on the family’s former reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kourtney has chosen a different approach for Rocky, preferring to keep him largely out of the public eye.
Travis Barker previously explained the couple’s decision in a 2024 interview with The Wall Street Journal, saying: “Unfortunately, someone finally got a photo of him, but we’d rather keep him out of the spotlight. If I could do everything different, I would have done the same thing with my [older] kids.” He added that he considers it “weird” for children to look back on images posted without their consent.
The post also underscored Penelope’s thoughtful nature. Ahead of Rocky’s arrival in 2024, Kourtney revealed that Penelope had secretly bought and packed the outfit the baby would wear home from hospital. “P picked this out and bought it for the baby as a surprise for me, the sweetest,” she wrote at the time.
Kourtney has often spoken about how motherhood has shaped her, crediting her own mother, Kris Jenner, as a major influence. In a 2015 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she said: “She really has shown me a balance between being a mom and having a relationship.” She also told Parents magazine: “It’s definitely my favourite role in life. Being a mum is what life is about.”
