Kirsten Dunst Criticises Spider-Man Reboots, Praises Original Trilogy

Kirsten Dunst, who played Mary-Jane Watson in Sam Raimi's original Spider-Man trilogy, has expressed her disdain for the franchise's subsequent reboots. In an interview with Marie Claire, Dunst stated: 'We made the best ones, so who cares? I'm like, “You make it all you want.” They're just milking that cow for money. It's so obvious.'

Dunst's comments come ahead of the release of 'Spider-Man: Homecoming', starring Tom Holland as the web-slinger. The actress also told Variety: 'I don't care. Everyone likes our Spider-Man. C'mon, am I right or what? Listen, I'd rather be in the first ones than the new ones.'

The original trilogy, directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker, ran from 2002 to 2007. It was followed by 'The Amazing Spider-Man' (2012) and its sequel (2014), starring Andrew Garfield. The latest reboot, 'Homecoming', is the first to integrate with the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is set for release on July 7.
