Jimmy Kimmel has responded to Donald Trump's criticism of his joke at the Oscars, saying he loves that it bothered the former president so much. During his Monday night show, Kimmel noted that Trump was 'still stewing' over a comment made during the Academy Awards ceremony.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump mocked Kimmel for reading out his Truth Social post on air. 'He ends up reading my Truth... The thing went viral,' Trump said. Kimmel replied that the joke went viral because of its content, replaying the line: 'Isn't it past your jail time?' He added that 'Barbie was laughing at you' and that merchandise based on the joke is now on sale.
Kimmel also addressed Trump's legal troubles, noting that his lawyers informed a court they cannot find anyone to post a $454m bond. 'Who would’ve ever guessed that a hard-earned reputation for not ever paying your bills would make it difficult to get credit,' Kimmel remarked.
Additionally, Kimmel commented on Trump's campaign rally in Ohio, where he promised a 'bloodbath' if not re-elected. Kimmel dismissed the debate over whether the term was literal, stating, 'The context we should be considering isn’t whether or not Trump meant bloodbath literally, it’s that he’s such a lunatic, we actually have to debate if he meant it literally.'
