Kim Kardashian has revealed the real reason she and her mother Kris Jenner removed photos of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from Instagram after Kris's 70th birthday party. The incident, dubbed 'Photogate' by the Kardashian family, sparked rumours of a falling out, but Kim insists it was a simple misunderstanding related to Remembrance Day.
Speaking on her sister Khloe's podcast 'Khloe In Wonder Land', Kim explained that the photos were deleted because the couple did not want to be seen partying on Remembrance Day. 'We were told that it was totally cool to post,' she said. 'And then after it was posted, I think they realised it was Remembrance Day and they didn't want to be seen at a party.'
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended Kris Jenner's 70th birthday party on 8 November, the night before Remembrance Sunday. Kim noted that while the couple had also attended the Baby2Baby charity gala that day, images of them 'partying and dancing on the dance floor' were deemed inappropriate for the solemn occasion.
Kim added that she tried to lighten the situation by suggesting a SKIMS campaign based on 'Photogate', but she 'hated' how the incident was perceived online. 'It was just made into something that was so crazy and ridiculous that just didn't have to be,' she said.
Despite Kim's explanation, a source told PEOPLE that Meghan and Harry had checked 'no' on a photo consent form at the event. However, another source close to the party denied that any consent forms were used.
