Kim Kardashian has faced fresh criticism over her parenting after her 12-year-old daughter North West displayed new dermal piercings on her fingers. The pre-teen shared images online showing two silver gems embedded in her fingers, as well as a blue stone in the centre of her middle finger.
Unlike conventional piercings, dermal piercings involve surgically inserting a small anchor beneath the skin. WebMD warns they are temporary and can leave scars. Jewellery expert Nilesh Rakholia said: “A piercing in the finger is particularly risky, as it’s constantly exposed to knocks, dirt and bacteria, making the risks of infection and complications far greater.”
This is not the first time fans have raised concerns about North’s activities. Last month, she posted a TikTok video featuring fake face tattoos, a pretend nose piercing and grillz. The video showed North lip-syncing with friends who also sported braids, face tattoos and piercings.
While some defended the video as Halloween fun, others recalled father Kanye West’s past concerns about his children’s social media use. Kim previously hit back, saying: “Kanye’s constant attacks on me in interviews and social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create.”
