Kevin Spacey has reached a settlement with three British men who accused him of sexual assault, avoiding a civil trial scheduled for October at London's High Court. The settlement was confirmed in a court order on March 13, 2026, by Mrs Justice Lambert, who paused all proceedings.
The claimants include Ruari Cannon, who has waived his anonymity, and two others who remain anonymous. They alleged Spacey assaulted them between 2000 and 2015 while he was artistic director at the Old Vic theatre in London. Two of the men had previously testified in Spacey's 2023 criminal trial, where he was acquitted of nine sex offences.
The terms of the settlement are confidential, and the judge made no order as to costs. Cannon also settled a separate claim against the Old Vic earlier this month, with the theatre stating the agreement was reached without admission of liability.
Spacey, now 66, won Oscars for 'American Beauty' and 'The Usual Suspects' but faced career setbacks after the initial allegations emerged in 2017. He was dropped from 'House of Cards' and removed from 'All the Money in the World'. In a 2024 interview, he said he takes responsibility for past behaviour but denied fabricated or exaggerated claims.
