Kesha, the 39-year-old pop star known for hits like 'TiK ToK' and 'Timber', has made an unusual request to her fans: send her your human teeth. Appearing on the Las Culturistas podcast, she revealed she has been collecting teeth for years, turning them into accessories and home decorations.
Kesha's tooth collection began with a fan's child
'Do you know I collect teeth? I do. Send them over,' she said on the podcast. According to Kesha, the collection started when a fan mentioned their child had lost a baby tooth. 'The teeth started when I became obsessed with my fans and then someone was like, “My child lost their teeth,” and I was like, “Can I have them?”'
The singer has transformed her growing collection into a necklace, earrings, a belt, and even a crown. She has previously stated that fans have gifted her more than 1,000 teeth over the years, leaving many parents to explain why the Tooth Fairy seems to have outsourced to a Grammy-nominated pop star.
Why Kesha collects teeth: Freaking out straight men
'I just started collecting them because it kind of freaks out straight men,' she admitted. Kesha also uses the remaining teeth as home decor, placing them in jars around her house. 'I just started putting them all over my home, in little jars,' she said, creating a mental image unlikely to appear in interior design magazines.
The 'Timber' hitmaker insists she is doing everyone a favor, arguing that discarded baby teeth would otherwise go to waste. 'I’m a pop star. I need your teeth,' she said. 'Do you flush them down the toilet? Where are they going? Give them to me. Can I actually have them? It’s not a drill, not a joke.'
Kesha also collects cat teeth and wears placenta jewelry
On the Call Her Daddy podcast earlier this year, Kesha revealed her collection is not limited to human teeth. She also keeps her cats' extracted teeth. 'I have my cats, they had to get their little teeth taken out. They’re little kitty wisdom teeth. I collect those too,' she explained.
Longtime fans may not be entirely shocked. The singer also recently revealed she wears a necklace made from her own placenta, adding to her collection of deeply personal jewelry.
