Kerry Katona appeared cheerful as she celebrated her son Max's 18th birthday in Marbella with boyfriend Paolo Margaglione and her children. The 45-year-old former Atomic Kitten singer posted photos on Instagram, including a selfie with her family dressed casually, and another showcasing a yellow dress for a date night. However, behind the smiles, Katona has been dealing with the emotional aftermath of a miscarriage.
During an appearance on Paul C Brunson's podcast We Need To Talk, Katona and Margaglione revealed that she was unknowingly pregnant during the finale of Celebs Go Dating, where the couple met. Katona discovered the pregnancy in the early morning after a test initially showed negative. She described the moment as 'an exclusive' and noted she had not shared it publicly before.
Tragically, Katona miscarried, and later suffered another miscarriage at four weeks. She expressed that the thought of abortion did not sit right with her as the pregnancy 'was made from love'. The experience made her realise how much she wanted to be a mother again for the sixth time. This is not her first miscarriage; in her memoir Kerry Katona: Whole Again, she detailed a previous miscarriage following a rebound fling after the death of her ex-husband George Kay, which required surgery to remove the foetus.
Katona is mother to five children: Molly (23) and Lily-Sue (22) with Brian McFadden; Heidi (19) and Max (18) with Mark Croft; and Dylan-Jorge (10) with the late George Kay. The family holiday in Marbella was part of Max's 18th birthday celebrations.
